| Also, have all your paperwork in order, put your dome light on, keep you hands up on the wheel when they walk up. Whatever you can do to make him feel at ease that you are going to be cooperative and not make his job more difficult will go a long way toward getting out of the ticket. I have been pulled over twice so far in Texas. Once I got clocked going 80 in a 55. Nailed dead to rights on laser. I saw him getting in his car, I slowed to a crawl over in the right lane to allow him to catch up to me easily. Told him I was trying to make it to work on time, didn't offer any lame excuses. Had my license and registration out by the time he walked up to my car. I got off with a written warning. Second time, I got pulled for not having a front plate. Showed him that I had it under the seat, and that I don't have a bracket for the front. This time I had a temp license card that I had forgotten to switch out. He let me go on the plate, but did have to write me on the insurance card. All it took was a photocopy of my valid card dropped off at the local court clerk within 10 days and it was dismissed. I figure if I do get a ticket, I will have deserved it. Even if its a lame ticket, I probably did something at some point that warranted a ticket. Karma can be a bitch.
